Recording "Georgia Bulldogs on My Mind"

It is really exciting being in the middle of the recording process! On the fist day recording, I recorded acoustic guitar and scratch vocals, and John Baird laid down a sweet rhythm electric part.

At the beginning of the recording process, you need to record something to use as a guide for you to record everything else. Then after you record everything else, you scratch those first tracks you recorded (delete them), and keep everything else. That's where the term "scratch" comes from.

So I recorded the scratch vocal and acoustic guitar tracks using two separate mics. I used the Baby Bottle condenser mic on the acoustic guitar and an SM58 to record the scratch vocal.

Then John laid down the rhythm electric part. We played around with the sound effects and tone until we found something we liked. But we still haven't settled on it completely.

Todd Burkhalter came in and laid down a smokin' keyboard part during the second session! We did a Facebook live of the take we are keeping (Sept 5th post). You can link to it HERE!

I also made a Facebook Live post when I laid down the bass line tonight (9/9/19)! It has been great seeing so many people leaving positive feedback!
